Israeli/Palestinian Conflict Seminar

Today on MBI they went to Givat Haviva - a seminar center that focuses of providing education surrounding the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.
There they discussed the history in terms of the conflict and learned about specifically the 1967 war and borders and what the 'Green Line' is and symbolizes.

They then had a guest speaker Muhamad- who is an Arab Israeli. He talked about the relationship between Jewish and Arab Israelis.
Later the MBIers went to a unique village that sits exactly on the Green Line. They talked about the complexities of this.

In the evening the MBIers did a bonding activity with their kvutsah and had time to start designing their shwag! They also ate famous hummus for dinner!

Haifa and Druze Dinner

Today was the end of the free weekend, and the MBIers were excited to see one another after spending shabbat apart from some of their friends!

Today also begins the final week of MBI! The focus of this week is on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as a Hadracha (leadership) seminar, preparing them to go back to their communities and be Jewish leaders!

During the day the MBIers went on a tour of Haifa and learned about Arab-Jewish relations in that city. Specifically we highlighted times that Jewish and Arab leadership chose to stand together in times of conflict.

This evening the MBIers enjoyed a traditional Druze dinner, yum! I heard word they ate until they couldn't imagine eating any more. Following the meal, they learned about the Druze people through a talk given by the women who run the restaurant. The MBIers asked lots of questions about Druze religion, history, worldview and achievements.
